The Dual-Wall Pipe Reverse Circulation (RC) Drill Rig is a highly specialized drilling systemspecifically engineered for efficient and high-integrity sample recovery in geological exploration,
mineral prospecting, and environmental investigations. It is particularly valued in mining exploration
due to its ability to deliver clean, uncontaminated rock samples from depth with minimal dilution,
enabling accurate geological analysis and ore grade determination.
The defining feature of this system is the use of dual-wall drill rods, which consist of an inner tube
concentrically positioned within an outer tube. This innovative configuration creates two separate
and isolated flow pathways for the drilling medium—most commonly compressed air, though in
some cases mist or foam may be used depending on ground conditions. The annular space betweenthe inner and outer tubes serves as the downward conduit for the pressurized drilling fluid, while
the inner tube acts as the return path for cuttings and exhaust.
During operation, the drilling medium is forced down through the annular space between the outer
and inner tubes. Upon reaching the drill bit at the bottom of the hole, the air exits through specially
designed nozzles, creating a powerful upward jet that lifts the generated rock cuttings into the inner
tube. These cuttings are then carried rapidly to the surface via the continuous airflow, entering a sample
cyclone or collection chamber where they are separated from the air stream and collected in sample bags,
typically one per meter drilled.Additionally, the system performs well in unstable ground conditions where traditional single-tube systems
might suffer from hole collapse or sample loss, as the sealed dual-wall design helps maintain borehole
stability and sample containment.
