This robust, deep-capacity core drilling rig is engineered specifically for demanding subsurface investigations within tunnel environments. 
Constructed with a powerful hydraulic or electric drive system, the rig delivers the high torque and thrust required to penetrate hard, heterogeneous rock formations encountered in deep strata. It typically features a modular, rigid mast structure for stability during deep-hole operations and may incorporate an automated rod handling system to efficiently manage the long drill string.
While it is a substantial piece of equipment, its design considers the logistical constraints of underground installation. It can be disassembled into major modules for transport through tunnel access points and reassembled on a stable platform or anchor bolts within an excavated chamber or at the tunnel face.
This deep-core drill is an indispensable tool for comprehensive site characterization, enabling detailed analysis of rock mechanics, fault zones, groundwater conditions, and mineralogy at significant depths, thereby informing engineering design, risk assessment, and long-term safety protocols for major underground works.
